Academics

Introduction

Previously known as the Whampoa Military Academy, the military academy was officially opened in 1924. After the Republic of China government retreated from mainland China to Taiwan in 1950, the academy was re-established as the Republic of China Military Academy in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung. The curriculum design was restructured into a four-year university education in 1953 and cadets enroll as non-majors during their first year of study. The curriculum design is based on "general education".
In view of the recent global emphasis on scientific military physical training, research on sports science, national defense military sports, sports injury prevention and other related aspects, the Republic of China Military Academy is committed to the implementation of "cultivating military leaders who are proficient in martial arts and morality.” The Department of Sports Science was established in 2020.
